Vijaya Gadde, Head of Legal, Policy and Trust at Twitter, has left the company.
This comes immediately after Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, is said to have closed the deal to buy Twitter.
On Monday Twitter employees sent a list of demands to Elon Musk
The letter was in response to rumors that Elon Musk planned to downsize the companies work force by 75%
Directed to “Staff, Elon Musk, and Board of Directors,” the letter stated that a move to gut the platform’s staff would endanger the “public conversation” to a degree that they claimed was unacceptable.
On Wednesday Musk walked into Twitter’s headquarters with a big grin and carrying a porcelain sink, subsequently tweeting “let that sink in.”
Today Friday (October 28), Elon Musk has fired top executives of Twitter Inc. including CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal and general counsel Sean Edgett.
Elon Musk had promised big changes to Twitter, and it looks like he is making good on his promise.
Vijaya Gadde was responsible for many of the decisions that made Twitter what it is today.
Gadde was also responsible for the development of Twitter’s anti-harassment policies as well as policies that led Twitter to clamp down on everyone including U.S president Donald Trump the still a seating president.
She was at the forefront of the decision by twitter to ban political ads on the platform.
Twitter has been embroiled in a series of controversies relating to user data and privacy, which may have played a role in Gadde’s departure.
This is a major shakeup in the legal department of Twitter. It will be interesting to see how this affects the company going forward.
Gadde was one of the most high-profile executives at Twitter, and her departure is likely to further shake up the company.
Musk had earlier in the year fired straight at Gadde terming Twitter’s suspension of a major news organization for publishing a truthful story as incredibly inappropriate in reference to the New York Post’s Twitter account being suspended for publishing an article about Hunter Biden’s emails.
Gadde joined Twitter in 2011, and was responsible for the company’s legal and policy team.
She was also in charge of Twitter’s Trust & Safety team, which is responsible for combating abuse and harassment on the platform.
Vijaya Gadde, has also tasted controversy in her native country of India when in 2018 she accompanied then Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey on a controversial visit to India where he was photographed with Jack Dorsey holding a sign that read “Smash Brahminical Patriarchy”.
Back in April when news broke that Elon Musk was taking over the company Vijaya Gadde took to social media crying.

Vijaya Gadde was born in Born in Hyderabad, India to a Gulati family and moved to the United States at age three.
Gadde holds a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial and labor relations from the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations and a Juris Doctor from the New York University School of Law in 2000.
Before twitter, Gadde spent nearly a decade working at the Silicon Valley law firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.
She was also senior director in the legal department of Silicon Valley technology firm Juniper Networks.
She joined Twitter in 2011 as the company’s General Counsel and became the Head of Legal, Policy, and Trust & Safety in 2015.

Vijaya Gadde Among Top Executives To Walkaway With More Than $ 200 Million
According to twitter filing with the SEC, upon officially taking control of the social network in the$ 44 Billion acquisition, The three top executives, Vijaya Gadde, CEO Parag Agrawal and CFO Ned Segal will receive a total of $ 204 million.
This is due to the fact that the three own roughly 1.2 million shares of Twitter, with Vijaya Gadde shares having a value of $ 34.8 million.
Their stock is being purchased by Elon Musk ‘s company in the Twitter deal.
Additionally, a clause in the merger agreement provides for accelerated vesting of promised future stock compensation — and that’s where the biggest chunk of money comes in.
A “Golden Parachute Compensation” clause in Twitter’s SEC filing — which was approved by Twitter shareholders — shows the trio will automatically vest stock worth $119.6 million as severance if terminated, with the largest payout there going to Agrawal at $56 million.
They’re also entitled to a year’s salary and health benefits.
Last year, Agrawal had a base salary of $623,000, while Segal and Gadde’s base pay was $600,000.
In total, Gadde is set to walk away from Twitter with the biggest haul: Nearly $74 million. Agrawal and Segal aren’t far behind her, though, at roughly $65 million and $66 million, respectively.
This means that the three executives will make a total of $ 204 million from the Twitter acquisition deal.
