Ledger, a digital assets security firm, recently announced the release of a new device called Ledger Stax, a hardware wallet for Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). The device has been designed in collaboration with Tony Fadell, the designer of the iPod, and it features a curved E Ink display which displays users’ artwork of choice even when the device is turned off. The device also features a touch interface that allows users to manage their NFT collection and over 500 coins.
Ledger Stax uses a USB-C connection to hook up to laptops and Bluetooth to connect to the Ledger Live Mobile app on smartphones. Additionally, Ledger Connect, the company’s upcoming crypto wallet extension, will enable Ledger Stax to connect to Web3 apps. The device also supports wireless Qi charging, which makes it easy to charge the device without the need of any cables.
The release of Ledger Stax comes at an important time, as the recent FTX crypto scandal has led to increased interest in ways to increase security in digital assets. Ledger has previously released the Ledger Nano series, which has been a successful digital asset security hardware with more than 5 million sold and no instances of hacking.
Each Ledger Stax comes with an Infinity Pass, which provides users with a free NFT that comes with future utility. Additionally, a Ledger Stax NFT is available to mint on Ledger Market to unlock access to exclusive NFT artwork from the company’s network of hand-picked artists. Ledger Market Genesis Pass holders retain special mint-priority for this artwork.
The release of Ledger Stax is one of the first efforts by a leading hardware wallet provider to “Apple-fy” digital asset security. Ledger has already established itself as one of the leading hardware wallet Web3 entities, and it’s clearly aiming to dominate the market, which is projected to reach $1.72 billion in size by 2030.
In summary, Ledger Stax is a new hardware wallet for NFTs that has been designed in collaboration with Tony Fadell, the designer of the iPod. The device features a curved E Ink display which displays users’ artwork of choice even when the device is turned off, and it uses a USB-C connection to hook up to laptops and Bluetooth to connect to the Ledger Live Mobile app on smartphones. Ledger Stax also supports wireless Qi charging. Ledger is releasing Ledger Stax in Q1 2023 and it is available for pre-order now on Ledger.com. The company also plans to make it available from retailers like BestBuy in the United States in the coming months. The release of Ledger Stax aims to bring digital asset security to mainstream users and to appeal to a wider, non-Web3 native audience to help the development and proliferation of crypto and NFTs.
